Thank you for your interest in joining the Bainbridge Chorale!
About our Auditions
Singers from all sections are welcome to audition. There are frequently, but not always, vacancies in every section at the start of the season. Vacancies can occur throughout the season, as well. You may consider auditioning even if there are currently no openings in your section. When vacancies occur, we will consult our waiting list.
We expect that our prospective members have had choral experience in a moderately advanced ensemble. Singers should be able to sing musically, with accurate pitch and rhythm, and have some sight reading ability. Some familiarity with foreign languages, especially Latin, is a plus.
What happens in the audition?
The Director will listen to your voice to determine your vocal range and quality, and will have you perform some basic exercises to assess your pitch matching and music reading ability. He will then ask that you sing a familiar, brief tune. It is not necessary to prepare a piece to sing at the audition.
Acceptance into the Chorale will depend on the director’s assessment of how well your voice will fit into the ensemble, and on how many spaces are currently available for a given voice part.
How do I schedule an audition?
The Bainbridge Chorale offers two sessions annually:
- Fall session beginning in September, culminating in December concerts
- Winter/Spring session beginning in January, culminating in spring concerts in April or May.
The choir rehearses on Mondays from 7:15 – 9:30. Auditions are held by appointment before the first two rehearsals of each session.
To schedule an audition: Download an audition application form here. Email your completed form to Info@bainbridgechorale.org.
After we receive your application, you will be contacted to schedule an audition appointment lasting approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
